Our Story

We’ve been growing trees, shrubs, evergreens, perennials, annuals and supplying other ‘green’ products such as mulch, soil and aggregates/gravel for over 30 years.

Our Products

We have more trees, shrubs, and evergreens than you can shake a stick at! In fact, our inventory consists of 100+ products grown on our two farms and in 30 greenhouses; some familiar, others more unusual in these parts. Maple, Buckeye, Serviceberry, Birch, Hornbeam, Hackberry, Dogwood, Kentucky Coffee, Cherry, and Linden, to name a few. Evergreens like Cypress, Junipers, Tamarack, Spruce, Siberian Cypress, Yew, White Pine, Cedar hedges, Hemlock, Conifers. Our bareroot seedlings are perfect for open spaces. We’re happy to advise you on planting or, if you prefer, we can arrange for a professional arborist to do it for you. Our huge selection of flowering shrubs includes Witch Hazel, Hibiscus, Hydrangea, Saint John’s Wort, Sweetspire, Winterberry, Japanese Kerria, Beauty Bush, and on and on. Rockwood can supply you with all the mulches, soils and triple mix you’ll need to enrich your gardens, plus grass seed and stone aggregates. We also carry a selection of top-quality garden tools.

Our History

Rockwood Forest Nurseries started growing trees in 1986 under the ownership of Marc Ouellet. He sold the business in March 2020 just as the province of Ontario went into COVID lock-down, the very same day present owners Santosh Patel and Stacey McCoy took possession of the business. Fortunately, that was not a sign of luck to come as they have since purchased another farm in Bobcaygeon and are now growing approximately 25,000 trees.

Our Philosophy

Our goal as company owners is to be one of the few northern nurseries growing hardy and high-quality products for harsher zones. This means we serve customers all the way down to the Niagara region, the GTA, eastern Ontario and up into the Muskokas where the growing zone changes. We are also proud to be a part of an amazing community and love to show our support to local seniors homes and other institutions with donations that beautify their properties.

What Makes Us Unique

We are located and grow our products in the growing zone where our customers live and garden, so our nursery is right at home in the tough Canadian climate. That sets us apart from the typical garden centres you find at big box retailers. We’ve also partnered with the University of Guelph’s renown horticulture program to offer soil testing so you’ll know exactly what you’ve got and what needs to be done to adjust your soil prior to making your selection Our in-house experts and residential and commercial landscapers and design architect partners are ready to help you make the right choices. If we don’t have what you are looking for, we guarantee that we will find it for you!

Experiences We Offer

When you come to our garden centre, you’ll see so much greenery, trees, and shrubs in a forest’s worth of variety. Our visitors have so much to explore, and we’ve been told many times that once we meet and discuss their interests, it becomes huge fun and a thrill to hop on our Kubota side-by-side for a tour!
