Quaker Oaks Farm
Our Story
Quaker Oaks Farm is many wonderful things. Cool hippie-themed store, rescue animal sanctuary, and acres of homegrown goodness for your table. We’ve developed our farm along the Monck Road corridor as a fun destination where people can enjoy our great food and shopping in a serene environment.
Our Products
Our roadside store is open all year and offers sandwiches made fresh for all diets, from traditional to vegan and gluten free. Our baked goods are scratch made in small batches. Call ahead if you’d like to reserve an order. We are also part of the Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Tour. Ours are dedicated to the memory of a wonderful woman, Mrs. Waldron who taught Judy as a teenager how to make pastry and butter tarts. Our customers love them!
And, from a Canadian classic to the Mediterranean, Quaker Oaks is famous for handmade stuffed olives that come in 15 flavours for your entertaining needs. We also sell fine domestic and imported cheeses, preserves, maple syrup, honey, retro candy, gifts and plenty more!
Our farm offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) membership in which a personal relationship between the farmer and our customers is formed. Quaker Oaks Farms offers harvest boxes for weekly pick-up with delivery options. A full season/cottage share is enough vegetables for two people or a family with small children who love their veggies. We aim to have a variety of up to twelve vegetables each week, depending on the season and the weather. Lettuce is Aden’s specialty, and it is enjoyed in many local restaurants. Aden selects veggies for their unique qualities outside of what store chains offer. Check out our website for more details! https://quakeroaksfarm.com/
Where and How You Can Purchase Our Products
The CSA season is Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving weekend. Quaker Oaks Farm is located at 789 Monck Road (Highway 45) just east of Sebright. You can’t miss the only ‘life-size’ Betty Boop statue in the county! It’s best to phone ahead to confirm our hours for the day: 705-833-2370.
Our History
We met at Riverdale Farm in downtown Toronto, and before we knew it, a job became a passion, a passion became a dream, a dream became reality, and reality became a business centred on compassion. We joined KCFF to benefit from the excellent support and awareness this wonderful group offers. It has really helped us connect with customers who are interested in experiencing a different kind of farm culture where we share our passions and where our animals enjoy life as much as we do! Our farmer is Aden Spurr whose internship at Meeting Place Organic Farm stirred a passion for meeting the people who were enjoying his vegetables.
Our Philosophy
Quaker Oaks Farm derives its name from a pacifist Quaker upbringing and from the fortitude symbolized by the mighty oaks that have grown here forever. Our philosophy is perhaps best expressed by our animals, who live a happy life with us like the family they are. We’re the ones who feel fortunate to live our lives with those we are able to shelter thanks to the generous donations they receive.
What Makes Us Unique
Quaker Oaks occupies an area with very little soil. We’re on the edge of the rugged Canadian Shield, so small pockets of farmable land within a vast area covered by mixed forests. We’re also one of the few farms producing local food for the local community and seasonal cottagers. We and our staff work hard to ensure that our visitors feel very welcome and appreciate our devotion to creating products that are both home crafted and diverse in nature.
Experiences We Offer
While shopping, our guests are welcome to use our picnic tables, purchase delicious coffee, baked goods and sandwiches and other treats in our beautiful surroundings. We look forward to meeting you! Mark and Judy
