Linlor Farm and Forest
Our Story
Located on a 300-acre property on the scenic north shore of Rice Lake, Linlor Farm and Forest is a fifth-generation maple syrup producer. With about 1,000 taps, production of nature’s sweetest substance is rooted in an ‘old school’ approach that relies on gravity-reliant pipelines and a wood-fired stainless steel evaporator.
Our products
While our core product is maple syrup, bottled in sizes ranging from 250 milliliters to four liters, we also produce and market maple butter and maple sugar, in both leaf and granulated form. By special order, we also produce maple BBQ rub, maple baked popcorn, maple shortbread and maple granola.
Available on order are pasture-raised chicken, pork and turkeys for the Christmas season, and just recently, three varieties of garlic – Music, Red Russian and Big Boy – have been grown and brought to market.

Our history
Arriving in Canada from England in the 1830s, family descendants eventually settled locally, building a home in 1840 at our current location. Since then, traditional maple syrup production has been passed down along through generations. We built a new sugarhouse about 20 years ago, moving it from the woods closer to our home but, other than that, relatively little has changed as we remain true to traditional production practices. Our involvement with KCFF has been beneficial, creating and nurturing a sense of community with other local producers, raising awareness of shared challenges and related best practices.
Our philosophy
We work hard, producing the highest quality maple syrup and sugar we can in the best way that we can -as a product we would be happy to have on our own table.
What makes us unique
We’ve intentionally stayed small and more traditional in the way we produce maple syrup. We do use pipeline, but we still use some buckets for capturing sap. We have a wood-fired evaporator. We are one of very few maple syrup producers that doesn’t use reverse osmosis as part of our production process.
