Brouwer’s Strawberries
Our Story
We offer pick-your-own and pre-ordered June strawberries grown on our five-acre farm. Our most popu-lar varieties are Annapolis, Wendy, Cavendish, Jewell and Sunset Valley. As the calendar moves through the summer months, we offer a great variety of vegetables, plants and flowers.
Our Products
Strawberry season begins around mid-June and lasts for about three to four weeks. The season length depends on the weather and is very fast paced because strawberries must be sold on the day they are picked. Once strawberry season is finished, our customers can also purchase a wide range of fresh vege-tables and flowers. Green beans, zucchini, beets, carrots, corn, cucumbers, onions, peas, peppers, pota-toes, pumpkins, radishes, squash, and tomatoes. You’ll also find maple syrup and a variety of jams. We do let our customers know what is currently available via Facebook, so check in often.

Our History
We purchased our farm in 1989. At the time the land was vacant, so the first big task was to build a family home. It wasn’t long until our love of strawberries, and having a large family to feed, inspired the work of getting a garden in the ground that included 50 strawberry plants. They were so delicious and the yield was so great that we put up a little sign. One thing led to another, and before we knew it, 50 plants went to 200 the second year and eventually to the five acres we now grow and sell. One thing we especially appreciate about belonging to KCFF is sharing the very informative maps they’ve created. We’re really able to help our visitors who are out and about shopping for produce and food to explore the great variety of offerings one can find in our area.
Our Philosophy
We like to keep things simple. We started our farm from scratch as a family garden and like to keep things close to home. We only hire young people from the area to help out, and since strawberries are ready in June when the sun is strongest we ensure that they only work the field until midday before the sun gets too hot. We also like to be open from 8 until 8 during the week because some customers love to pick in the evening. We strive to keep our customers happy with strawberries at prime taste.
