Clancey & Gale’s Maple Products
Clancey & Gale’s Maple Products are following an earlier family tradition from the 1930’s of producing maple syrup. At that time maple sap was collected in pails, emptied into vats and brought back to a sugar shack with horses and wagons.
In 2012, we started our own maple sap collection using pipelines on our own property and at other local woodlots. The number of taps has grown over the years to 2200 taps.
Thirty percent of our maple sap is trucked back to our sugar house; the balance is pumped directly to our holding tanks at our sugar house.
We use a reverse osmosis machine to remove almost 75% of the water from the maple sap reducing boil times and energy needed to produce our product. We boil our maple sap with an oil-fired maple syrup evaporator.
We participate in 2 local farmers markets weekly from May to October as well as other special events. As active members of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association (OMSPA) we adhere to the ‘best practices manual’ of sustainable woodlot management ensuring future generations will be able to enjoy this natural resource.
